Willie Wayne Smith

Willie Wayne Smith was born in Limbe Haiti in 1984. In 1991 his family moved to central Florida where he grew up, often visiting his birthplace in the summers. Willie received his MFA in Painting from the Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2010. He will have work in the exhibition "It Was All a Dream" at the Adam Lister Gallery in Fairfax VA in September. His work can also be viewed online from the show "It Is Like a Simile"- a solo exhibit curated by Mickalene Thomas for the project room at Cerealart in Philadelphia in 2008.

"Primate and Proper" is a small disfigured self-portrait set in a brightly cartooned landscape. Like much of his work, it navigates varied styles echoing a navigation through different modes of living.
Thank You Willie
