Joell Baxter is a sculptor/drawer/printmaker who was born in Washington DC, raised in Evanston, Il, and currently resides in Brooklyn, NY. Her work explores cyclic systems of color and form, and the relationship between illusion and object. She earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in 2000 from the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she was awarded a University Fellowship. She has recently exhibited at the Bronx Museum of the Arts, Bronx, NY; International Print Center, New York, NY; Regina Rex, Queens, NY; and the Visual Arts Center, Austin, TX. She is a 2011 participant in the Artist in the Marketplace program at the Bronx Museum of the Arts, and has been awarded a 2011/2012 residency in the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council's Workspace Program.
